While speaking with Entertainment Tonight about his upcoming role in Your Friends & Neighbors, James Marsden briefly addressed his return as Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday.
“You can count on being blown away, [and] seeing so many new things,” he said. “They just continue to… the Russo brothers just upping the ante, and Marvel just giving everybody what they want.”
Cyclops has always been one of the most important leaders in Marvel Comics lore, yet he rarely received the spotlight he deserved in previous live-action appearances. Marvel Studios’ upcoming blockbuster event looks primed to finally change that, giving Marsden the opportunity to bring a more seasoned, commanding version of the character to the screen. If Marvel truly plans to “give everybody what they want,” as he says, then Cyclops stepping into a larger, more heroic role might be exactly the kind of payoff audiences have been waiting for.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives in theaters on December 18, 2026.
