
The second official trailer for Mortal Kombat II has arrived, giving a fresh look at the next chapter in the blood-soaked saga inspired by the legendary video game franchise. The new footage ramps up the intensity, teasing intense battles, brutal showdowns, and the long-awaited arrival of a fan-favorite: Johnny Cage. The sequel hits theaters and IMAX on May 8, 2026, with international release dates beginning May 6, 2026.
The live-action adaption raises the stakes as Earthrealm’s champions prepare for an all-out conflict that could determine the fate of their world. This time, the warriors are forced into a ruthless tournament where alliances are tested and survival is anything but guaranteed. Among the most anticipated additions is Cage, who steps into the fray as the threat of Shao Kahn’s domination looms over Earthrealm.

The ensemble cast features Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, joined by Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, and Damon Herriman. Returning performers include Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.
Director Simon McQuoid returns to lead the follow-up to the 2021 hit, working from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater. The film is based on the iconic game series created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Produced by Todd Garner, E. Bennett Walsh, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, and McQuoid, the movie features cinematography by Stephen F. Windon, production design by Yohei Taneda, editing by Stuart Levy, costumes by Cappi Ireland, casting by Rich Delia, and a score by Benjamin Wallfisch.
