There’s a fine line between fan service and fan storytelling, and Predator: Bloodlands lands firmly on the right side of it. This new stop-motion short from MotionBlaster Productions, presented by The Critical Cinema Club in association with Paper Nation, doesn’t just pay tribute to the Predator legacy, it expands it in a bold, crossover-driven way. Episode 1: The First Hunt sets the tone with a clear respect for the worlds it pulls from.

A Predator has chosen its prey. But this time, the hunt isn’t confined to a single, isolated group of soldiers. Instead, we’re thrown into an unknown jungle alongside a trio of X-Men characters: Beast, Wolverine, and Cyclops. Seeing these characters in stop-motion form, stripped of their usual support systems and placed into a hostile, alien environment, immediately raises the stakes.

What makes this setup work is how naturally the crossover fits within the Predator framework. Wolverine’s feral instincts make him a compelling counter to the Predator’s own hunter mentality. Cyclops brings tactical awareness and leadership, while Beast adds intellect and adaptability.

Described as a cinematic stop-motion fan film bringing together iconic characters in a brutal hunt for survival, Predator: Bloodlands lives up to that promise.
