Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated X-Men reboot is continuing to take shape, with the film’s behind-the-scenes team growing as production moves closer to its planned start in London.
Among the crew are cinematographer Pat Scola, whose credits include The Death of Robin Hood, Pig, and Sing Sing. Kasra Farahani, production designer on The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will bring their design talents to the reboot, while Sanja Milkovic Hays, who previously worked on Thunderbolts*, will serve as costume designer.
The art department is also taking shape, with Tom Coates, known for House of Guinness, serving as art director and Mike Britton, whose credits include Terminator: Dark Fate, joining as set decorator.
Together, the growing creative team points toward a major production that Marvel Studios appears to be building on a global scale. Filming is expected to commence in London, with additional production taking place at various locations around the world.
The film currently has a theatrical release date of May 5, 2028.
The announced cast (so far) includes Christopher Abbott as Professor X, with Adam Driver portraying the villainous Mister Sinister. Sadie Sink is set to play Jean Grey, while Kit Connor will portray Cyclops. The lineup also features Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue, with a number of mutants still left to be announced.
With Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier at helm, and a writing team that includes Beef scribes Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin, with The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes writer Michael Lesslie, the project is bringing together talent from film and television with experience in both character-driven storytelling and large-scale productions.
For fans who have been waiting to see Marvel’s mutants properly integrated into the MCU, the pieces are finally beginning to fall into place.
