X-MEN: EVOLUTION Mutants Return In Marvel’s Upcoming X-MEN ’92 INCURSIONS Crossover Comic

Playing off similar events we’ll see in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Comics is eXanding its exploration of the multiverse with a new series of companion comics focused on alternate universes colliding and fighting for survival. Among the worlds being brought into this conflict are two beloved animated versions of Marvel’s mutants: X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men: Evolution.

Originally airing on Kids’ WB from 2000 to 2003, X-Men: Evolution offered a different interpretation of the X-Men by portraying many of its iconic characters as teenagers. Cyclops, Jean Grey, Shadowcat, Rogue and other young mutants attended a seemingly ordinary high school while secretly living and training at Professor Xavier’s mansion with an adult Storm and Wolverine.

That is about to change with X-Men ’92 vs. X-Men: Evolution, a new story that brings these two animated realities directly into conflict. Rather than simply giving fans a nostalgic meeting between different versions of the characters, the comic appears to place their respective universes in a fight where the survival of one could come at the expense of the other.

The series is being written by Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, the same creative team closely associated with the creation of Wolverine’s clone daughter, Laura aka X-23, with artwork by Salva Espin. That makes the project particularly notable for fans of X-Men: Evolution, where the character debuted.

The official synopsis reads: X-Men ‘92 Vs. X-Men: Evolution! The X-Men of the 90’s must save their world! But can they do so when it means destroying another world in the process? Especially one filled with younger versions of themselves who still have hope for Xavier’s dream?

The comic is scheduled to arrive on January 6, 2027. There will also be Incursions event titles for X-Men proper, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and the Avengers (see release schedule above).
