Naughton on rumors of THE WOLVERINE casting.

Singer and actress Naturi Naughton recently commented on talk of her being considered for the next X-MEN film. Rumors began in Summer 2011 that Naughton was up for a role – reportedly for mutant Dr. Cecelia Reyes – in James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE. It wasn’t until a few months later when she confirmed the talks to The Huffington Post, saying…

“Well, there’s still some loose ends to tie up [on the X-Men role]. I’m grateful just for the interest and the talk about it.” says Naughton. “I can’t really go into it in a deep way right now, but I can say that it’s exciting to have so many possible opportunities on the forefront. I’m excited to continue with my movie career, but I have to see where it all lands. But God willing, I can do a film like that and we’ll see what happens. As of right now, I’m just focused on my show [“The Playboy Club”].”

It doesn’t seem like there has been much progress in the casting. Today Naughton told The Huffington Post that she hasn’t heard anything on the role.

“[There are] no updates [about the X-Men casting]. I mean, I can’t say that’s in my near future or happening. I kind of have to take work as it’s available and as it comes. But I’m still open to the opportunity; I would love to do that. Of course that would be another avenue of my career that I haven’t tapped into yet, so I’m all for it. I just know that my focus has to be on [my role on TV’s ‘The Client List.’] and if that comes back around, of course I’m ready to do it and go for it.”
