Production on James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE began today in Kurnell, Australia! Star Hugh Jackman announced the news via Twitter early this morning, saying “We’re on Day 1 of shooting. Wolverine is back…feel so pumped about this one…never felt so ready!!!! Will keep y’all posted!”
Filming today included scenes taking place on a Japanese “prisoner of war” camp, set during World War II. The movie reportedly features elements from Brian K. Vaughan’s “Wolverine: Logan” 3-issue comic book arc, which shares a similar setting.
THE WOLVERINE follows Logan as he lands in Japan and falls in love with Mariko, the daughter of crimelord, Yashida Shingen. Mariko’s hand has already been promised to Minister of Justice, Norubo Mori. When Logan doesn’t back down, Shingen summons the Silver Samurai, Viper and other deadly threats to push his healing-factor to the limit.
