Collider reports that visual effects house Weta Digital will be working on select scenes for James Mangold’s THE WOLVERINE. The news was revealed by the studio’s senior visual effects supervisor Joe Letteri, who said “…we’re doing some of WOLVERINE with Fox.”
Weta is no stranger to the X-Men films, having previously worked on Magneto’s breathtaking submarine-lifting sequence in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and Dark Phoenix’s destructive finale in X-MEN: THE LAST STAND.
In other VFX news, Australian effects house Rising Sun Pictures have also been signed to complete an unspecified amount of shots for the film. The studio previously worked on X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and PROMETHEUS for 20th Century Fox.
Their work in Last Stand sucked. But then again so did the movie.
