Many will agree that Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler in X2 was a fan-favorite. His opening fight sequence against agents in the White House goes down as one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy. Back in 2003, Cumming could not stop complaining in interviews about the 4 to 9-hour makeup process and his loathing of director, Bryan Singer. Enough time has passed where he would be interested in returning to the role, but is he even being considered?
“I haven’t gotten the call.” said Cumming to Coming Soon. “Someone told me that Nightcrawler doesn’t appear in the story but I don’t know, I think they would have called by now. It was funny that film because I really like it and everyone really responded to Nightcrawler and enough time has elapsed that I would like to go back to it. Although then when I did that film it was sort of the start of this spate of superhero and comic books made into films so it felt a little more special then it does now. X2 was a really great film, not just as a comic book film. I think it’s one of the films I’d been in that I think of as really good.”
X-MEN: THE OFFICIAL GAME gave us the only “official” explanation for why Nightcrawler was absent in X3, saying he left the team because he didn’t believe in violence. :-/

This is not likely to happen. The man was totally unprofessional in the role. If Nightcrawler ever returns, they need to find a more professional actor to play the part. Even Kelsey Grammer playing the Beast in X3 was better to work with.

Guys, guys, its only natural that all these original stars want to come back. Sure they wanted to make an X4, but come on, with the director and the outcome responces…They didn’t.
But now they hear Mckellen and Sterwart are coming back for a film in which their characters can come back, sure they’ll want to show interest.
Now, this needs to be taken another step forward and see, who actually goes ahead…Mind you, we need to consider the director’s, producers and casting peoples choices….
Nightcrawler is one of the missing piece of the puzzle in the movie.. Just think about him, Azazel and Mystique in one film.. It will explain everything..
