Director Bryan Singer tweeted a new behind the scenes photo of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST editor/ composer John Ottman in the editing bay, itching to get move on to another task.
“John Ottman wants out of the cutting room so he can start writing the score,” says Singer. “Soon John!”
I never was a big fan of Ottman’s X2 score. IMHO THE LAST STAND, ORIGINS, FC and THE WOLVERINE were far better.
I hope he takes some of the main themes from Jackman’s FC score and merges them with a new main theme.
I couldn’t disagree more. In fact I’m hoping that John brings back some of the themes he established in X2. Particularly the main title theme.
First Class and The Wolverine, are the other two X-Scores that I would rate. The rest are pretty forgettable.
Ottman though, had no problem expanding on what Michael Kamen left behind on X1. I’d expect he’ll pull from those that followed him as well. I imagine some Henry’s Jackman’s FC themes might factor in there, seeing as DoFP is essentially a sequel to First Class.
I agree. In fact, to be 100% honest, I simply wish Henry Jackman was still in charge…
You mean “Dark Phoenix” tragedy was worse than Ottman’s score? Seriously? LAST STAND had an epic score and I hoped that John Powell would return to score DAYS. Harry Gregson-Williams ORIGINS score was awesome. “Logan through time” is an instant classic.
I agree John Powell has the best of the score to date .
