Debunked: ‘X-Men vs Fantastic 4’ movie based on 1987 comic?

Update: This rumor has been debunked due to misdirected information. The potential for a X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover is still very much a possibility, but not as presented in the article below.

This article is prefaced with a RUMOR tag as I’m not sure if the source below has received new information or if these details were pulled from pre-existing reports and speculation.

According to The Motley Report, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation is planning a crossover movie for its two major Marvel properties “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four”. It will “allegedly” be based on the 1987 four-issue comic book titled FANTASTIC FOUR vs. X-MEN. The movie would see Reed Richards, Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing face off against the mutant team due to secrets regarding the Fantastic Four’s origin.

If true, this may be the “Marvel mash-up” idea that Bryan Singer mentioned last August at Montreal’s Fantasia Fest. Writer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Days of Future Past) has been working on the “Fantastic” script re-write, joining producer Matthew Vaughn (director of X-Men: First Class) and director, Josh Trank (Chronicle). Fox has been very quiet about its looming June 19, 2015 release date for FF, which has no solid details on casting yet. Perhaps because there are bigger plans at hand? We’ll have to wait and see.

Take with a grain of salt until proven otherwise.
