Director Bryan Singer confirmed to Empire Magazine in their latest issue that the little girl you see next to Evan Peters’ Quicksilver in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is in fact not Scarlet Witch, but his little sister. That’s a good thing, considering the characters are twins in the comic. And while he didn’t say it outright, comic fans will know that Polaris is the younger half-sister of both, a connection seemingly ignored as that character has green hair and controls magnetism like her real daddy Magneto.
Anywho, here’s what Singer had to say about the little girl who dresses as a princess in the film.
“Is that the Scarlet Witch? No, that’s his little sister, he says. “I even had a line which I cut, where Quicksilver’s mother says to the little girl, ‘Go up and bug your sister,’ and the little girl says, ‘She bugs me!’ You never see the older sister, but it was to imply that there is an older sister for comic book fans. I ended up cutting it.”
Maybe a wise choice as Quicksilver only features in two scenes, one being an action sequence breaking Magneto out of confinement. But fret not, Singer says chances are good we’ll see him again in the next follow-up, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
“Even though our Quicksilver is not a main character like in The Avengers, it’s a character there’s a lot of thought and concern about and it’s a character I’d like to explore further in the sequel.”
