Le Journal de Montreal — Director Bryan Singer and crew will return to Montreal for production on X-MEN: APOCALYPSE! The agreement was reached earlier this week between 20th Century Fox, producers and Mel’s Studios boss, Michel Trudel.

Production offices will set up in Montreal October 15th, with set construction beginning in December. Filming on the alleged $240 million-budgeted cinematic masterpiece will begin mid-April for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.

“The people at Fox loved their experience shooting in Montreal [for the last X-Men] and they wanted to come back for the next film, says Trudel. “They love the city, our facilities and the expertise of our technicians. We worked hard for it materializes and we are very happy that it can be done. It is a great achievement because it is the first time that Fox agreed to turn an X-Men for the second time in the same city.”

Shot entirely in Montreal and Quebec, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST became one of the city’s largest Hollywood productions, generating over $100 million for the local economy.
