Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) has signed the dotted line to star as the title villain in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE! The actor will portray En Sabah Nur, an ancient, unrelenting mutant who’s determined to cause an apocalypse unlike any in human history.
Sources at Variety say that Isaac “always seemed like the type of actor Singer wanted for the role and the long-time favorite from the start.” While he’s not a well-known name to the general public, he’s quickly rising with upcoming roles in “A Most Violent Year,” “Ex Machina” and J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.”
Filming begins this April in Montreal for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.
