MTV caught up with Oscar Isaac, who was recently cast as the title villain in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. The actor revealed that he was very familiar with the character decades before being asked to play the coveted role.
“The first comic book I ever collected was X-Factor and that was in ’86 [or] ’87,” says Isaac. “I read that story with Archangel and Apocalypse, I was also obsessed with the book of revelations a bit… I was a weird kid, so anything that referenced the second coming or the rapture, which I wanted to share the good news with you [laughing], so I was really into Apocalypse, so when I found out that they were interested in me for it, I was really excited.”
Isaac says he doesn’t know how his character will look in the film, but that he’s really excited to get started.
The film begins production this Spring for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.
