The original cast has made it pretty well known that they’d be interested in reprising their roles in future films beyond X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Now we can add ‘Mystique’ actress, Rebecca Romijn to the mix.
“I’d do it absolutely,” Romijn told Headlines & Global News about returning to the villainous role she made famous. “But they have their Mystique right now [with Jennifer Lawrence] and she’s unbelievable. I’m thrilled to share the role with her. She’s as cool as can be, and a great actress and an Academy Award winner.”
Lawrence, along with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender have contracts that are fulfilled after completing APOCALYPSE, but with younger versions of Jean Grey and Cyclops coming soon, there would seem to be more plans for the altered (past) timeline.
Can both time periods co-exist on-screen?
Past quotes from original cast:
Hugh Jackman: “Because after seeing [DOFP], the whole thing feels fresher to me than ever. And during this movie… it’s kind of like a clean slate, so who knows where it’s going to go. As long as I have the passion for it and the fans will have me.” – IGN
Halle Berry: “It’s a character that I love and fans really love the whole series, they really love Storm, and it’s like family. It’s fun to get back together with Hugh [Jackman] and everybody…it’s good fun.” – The Tonight Show
Patrick Stewart: “There might be something else. A little bird has whispered that there might be something X-Men related.” – MTV
Shawn Ashmore: “I think there’s such a great history from the source material, there’s so many stories left to be told. The movie did well and the audience is there, so we’ll have to see. I would love to play the character again, but we’ll see.” – IGN
Ellen Page: “Kitty Pryde’s awesome. I’m super grateful to be the actress who’s gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would.” – Vulture
James Marsden: “If I could go back and put on the glasses and suit again where we do a film to learn more about the character, that’s the one I would pick. He’s ripe for that.” – ET
Famke Janssen: “It would be very surreal. I would be honored to be a part of any of these X-MEN movies. It would be great.” – MTV
Kelsey Grammer: “I would love to do another X-Men. I loved playing Beast! I call him the blue guy and it was just a joy for me to be involved in that franchise.” – IGN
Anna Paquin: “As much as I loved doing those films I was kind of like, ‘OK, so when do I get to beat someone up? When do I get to steal some powers? So I’m just putting that out there. More action please, for next time.” – IGN
Alan Cumming: “I really like [X2] and everyone really responded to Nightcrawler and enough time has elapsed that I would like to go back to it.” – Coming Soon
