In unfortunate news, Daniel Cudmore, who played Colossus in the previous X-MEN films, revealed that he will not be returning to his star-making role for Tim Miller’s upcoming DEADPOOL movie. Last week it was revealed that the character had a substantial role in the shooting script, but it seems Miller and producers decided to go in a different direction.
Cudmore did a great job playing Colossus and was originally hired by Singer as just a simple cameo in X2, but as time went by his role became larger, culminating in an action-packed turn in DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Unfortunately, he never really got the opportunity to shine in a dialogue-heavy role.
Rumor is the new adaption of Colossus will be “very Russian” and “much bulkier in size.” It’s unknown which year ‘Deadpool’ takes place in, but if it’s similar to the 1983 setting of APOCALYPSE, then Cudmore’s version of the character would be a child, meaning we’re getting two versions of the same mutant.
