Things get very interesting as X-MEN: APOCALYPSE director Bryan Singer announces actor Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as Kurt Wagner aka Nightcrawler in the film! He will portray a younger version of Alan Cumming’s character, who previously appeared in X2. What’s interesting is Smit-McPhee was originally cast as young Logan in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE before later dropping out and being replaced by Troye Mellet.
On winning the role, he says “I am humbled and honored to be joining this incredible project and to be able to tell the story of the well respected young mutant Nightcrawler. Thank you Bryan Singer and the passionate Xmen fans.”
He joins newcomers Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheriden as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Oscar Isaac as the film’s villain, En Sabah Nur.
Production begins this April for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.
This is great casting. He reminds me of Kurt in X-Men: Evolution.
I certainly like it. He’s a good little actor, McPhee.
This is awesome! I’ve seen him in LET ME IT and he gave an awesome Performance. What an incredible cast so far!
