Celebrating The Continuing Legacy Of X-Men Films • Covering Our Most-Anticipated Genre Film And TV Projects

Concept art + details on Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm!

The latest issue of Empire magazine features concept artwork from X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and a chat with director Bryan Singer and writer/producer Simon Kinberg. “It’s a big monster of a movie,” says Singer on the scope of the film. “The stakes are so high and global and the villain is so mythic. It’s definitely an X-Men movie, but it really feels different.”

Revealing new details on the roles played by Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheriden (Cyclops) and Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kinberg says “They’re as much a part
of the movie as our main cast. Scott is not yet the squeaky-clean leader. Storm is
a troubled character who is going down the wrong path in life. And Jean is complex, interesting and not fully mature. It’s fun to see someone struggling with their powers when you know one day they’ll become the most powerful person in the world.”

Concept artwork shows a Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) standing with Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne) in front of a new X-Jet. Archangel’s (Ben Hardy) previously seen metallic wings are on display, as well as the origins of En Sabah Nur in an ancient Egypt. There’s also a new design for Xavier’s Cerebro headpiece.

Filming began Monday and continues through Summer for a May 27, 2016 theatrical release.
