Jean Grey actress, Sophie Turner tells Teen she’s “really excited” for X-MEN:APOCALYPSE. The actress was interviewed during press day for her upcoming film “Barely Lethal.”
“I’m really excited. It’s a franchise that I love so much,” she says. “I love [director] Bryan Singer‘s work and I love every single cast member’s work in this movie, or in the previous movies. It’s like with [friend, fellow actress] Hailee [Steinfeld] with Pitch Perfect, stepping on that set must have been just incredible for [her] and it’s incredible for me. When you walk on and you see Cerebro and you’re like, ‘Damn, this is X-Men.’ It’s exciting.”
On coming into an existing cast of actors, “They’re all amazing and really welcoming as well, considering me and [Cyclops actor] Tye [Sheridan] are kind of the newbies. It’s nice.”
Turner interestingly reveals that she first heard about the casting from Twitter fans, who encouraged her to test for the role, ultimately snagging the part. “I found out through Twitter actually that they were casting and everyone was tweeting me like, ‘You should do this.’ So then I emailed my agent and was like, ‘What’s going on with this?’ and then I got callback after callback and then I got it.”
