Empire has released a new photo from DEADPOOL showing Ryan Reynolds in-costume as film’s title character and Brianna Hildebrand as young mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead. If you’ve notice anything similar with the string of photos released, it’s that they all take place outside near a bridge. A majority of the film’s present-day scenes take place there, with the rest of the story being told through flashbacks.
On the film’s rating, producer Simon Kinberg told Entertainment Weekly “Deadpool is a hard R. It’s graphic. Nothing is taboo. You either commit to a truly outrageous boundary-pushing kind of movie or you don’t.” First-time director Tim Miller followed up, saying “We are in strip clubs and dive bars and crappy apartments and far away from the shiny X-Men world.”
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, the film tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The merc with a mouth comes to theaters on February 12, 2016.
