Professor Xavier actor Patrick Stewart reconfirmed that he’ll play a role (not just a cameo) in Hugh Jackman’s final WOLVERINE film. “I think what you say is true,” the actor told Collider, while promoting his upcoming Starz series Blunt Talk. “There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me.”
The film is rumored to take inspiration from Marvel’s popular “Old Man Logan” tale, which finds an aged Wolverine in a very different setting. While that has yet to be confirmed, Stewart says the prospect of seeing an older looking Jackman is interesting, to say the least. “…the idea of an old Wolverine – I’m really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I’m hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he’ll make me look better if that’s the case.”
Directed by James Mangold (The Wolverine) and written by David James Kelly (Straw Man), the film begins production early next year for a March 3, 2017 theatrical release.
