It’s mutated-mayhem as DEADPOOL has arrived to various international theaters, including the UK! It comes to US and other theaters on February 12th. General audience reaction (so far) has been overwhelmingly positive, with Rotten Tomatoes giving the film a 81% fresh rating from over 81 reviews at the exact time of this posting.
Like online casinos or casino real money, 20th Century Fox took a gamble which will pay off in spades. The film is estimted to make anywhere from $65-$75 million in its first (domestic) weekend, effectively making it’s low budget of $58 million back in its first week.
What did you think of the film!?
Directed by Tim Miller and written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the film stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle, Ed Skrein as the villainous Ajax, Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al and T.J. Miller as Weasel.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, ‘Deadpool’ tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
The film was good, but somehow lacked something the other 7 X-films had. I cannot exactly say what it was, but this is the first time I left the Theater watching a X-themed film without being overwhelmed how great it was (yes, I even thought X3 and ORIGINS were awesome).
I liked how this film took a sidestep from the big Things going on in the X-Films (pretty much like THE WOLVERINE did) and went to Show a small Story.
The gags and jokes were great but somehow not as frequent as I expected.
The Action was good, the Music was spot on.
I have to see it again. Mostly it was just entertaining to watch.
There should’ve been an Xavier or Wolverine cameo, imo, because everything X-Men was new to us (Colossus, Negasonic, Mansion, etc)… but like Deadpool said, they couldn’t afford it! I loved that joke. It didn’t necessarily feel connected to the world of the previous films because that history no longer exists. Hopefully the main X-Men films keep the continuity on the new mansion and Colossus and all of that.
