Ryan Reynolds Confirms New DEADPOOL Film In Early Development For Marvel Studios

Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that he’s thinking about another Deadpool movie, signaling that the Merc with a Mouth isn’t finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe just yet.

Speaking during a panel at Fanatics Fest 2026 in New York, Reynolds revealed that a new film is in the early stages of development. It appears Marvel Studios is ready to think about laying the groundwork for Wade Wilson’s next solo adventure.

“There’s a few really deep cuts that I think are missing behind the movies,” he said. “I think there’s a few deep cuts missing from some of the comics. There’s certainly some stuff that, you know, I love that Fabian Nicieza [co-creator of Deadpool] wrote that is incredible. Gerry Duggan, who was a friend, was an incredible comic writer. There’s stuff upcoming. There’s eventually, you know, remotely another Deadpool film. It’s going to be great.”

Although Marvel Studios has not officially announced the project, Reynolds’ comments strongly suggest that development is underway.

In addition to another standalone Deadpool movie, rumors continue to circulate that Reynolds could reprise the role in Marvel’s upcoming crossover events, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. While those reports remain unconfirmed, the multiverse-focused direction of the MCU makes Deadpool one of the franchise’s most likely characters to appear before returning for his next solo outing.
