Check out this weird power display (via another version of the international trailer) from Sebastian Shaw, as played by Kevin Bacon in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. We’re guessing Shaw has an explosive in his hand, releases it, and uses his powers to absorb energy from the blast? The multiple display of hands and heads is quite interesting though.
1:01 mark in the video. What do you think is going on in this scene?

I suspect Sebastian Shaw will be the originater of the helmet & later in the film Magneto will steal the helmet to avoid having Emma Frost read & take over his mind.

If that IS a way for him to absorb the energy….its just weird!
I think his arms are “just” moving super fast to contain the blast.
But it still looks werid!

A quick summery of Sebastian Shaw’s power explains that he can absorbed any form of kinetic energy that comes in contact with him, and this makes him have super strength, super speed super endurance, super durability and super endurance and so on and so forth. So what happens here (I’m guessing) is that he detonates, the explosive and then it explodes. Then if you observe the clip, the explosion is about to spread uncontrollably, but by that time he has already absorbed the kinetic energy from the blast and his speed has been enhanced. So what we see with the multiple hands, is in fact just him using that kinetic energy he absorbed from the grenade explosion, to move his hands at super speed to contain the blast. The multiple hands are just an visual effect that represent the super speed.

It looks a little odd to say the least, but I suppose they’d have to show him absorbing the explosion somehow….. Can’t say I’d have done it like this myself (unless its a new power created for the movie).
Robert, spoilers are for people like us who can’t wait for the movie (epsecially considering it’s the first X-film in a while to look half decent). Fair enough if you don’t want to be spoiled and would rather wait til the movie comes out, all credit to you for that.
