Box Office: DEADPOOL passes Marvel’s Guardians (domestic) in 6th weekend.

In its sixth weekend of release, DEADPOOL dropped two spots to number five on the box office chart, earning $8 million from over 2,924 domestic theaters. It was topped by “Zootopia” ($38 mil), “Allegiant” ($29 mil), “Miracles from Heaven” ($15 mil) and “10 Cloverfield Lane ($12.5), dropping just 26.9% from last weekend’s take of $10.8 million. It’s current haul in the USA now stands at $340.9 million.

It’s the top-grossing R-rated film of 2016 (so far) and currently ranks as the third highest-grossing R-rated film (domestically) behind “The Passion of the Christ” ($370.8 mil) and “American Sniper” ($350.1 mil).

With $389.7 million coming from foreign markets, the film has garnered an astounding $730.6 million worldwide on a budget of just $58 million!

The Tim Miller-directed film starring Ryan Reynolds is the highest-grossing X-Men film ever (domestically), surpassing “X-Men: The Last Stand” ($234.2 mil) and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($233.9 mil). Worldwide, it’s currently the second biggest X-Men film, behind “X-Men: Days of Future Past” ($747.9 million).

It has surpassed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy’s domestic haul of $333.1 mil to become the second biggest superhero origin movie of all time.

Deadpool is amazingly the highest grossing film at 20th Century Fox not directed by “Avatar” and “Titanic” filmmaker James Cameron or “Star Wars” creator George Lucas.
