Deadline reports that 24 year old actor Sean Teale (Syfy’s Incorporated) has been cast as a newly-created mutant named Marcos Diaz aka Eclipse.
His character is described as “a natural rebel compelled by circumstances to cooperate with others, Marcos is a passionate and strong-willed fighter who sometimes lets his emotions overrule reason. His alter ego, Eclipse, possesses the ability to absorb and manipulate photons.”
Honestly, this sort of sounds like a variation of Sunspot. They can’t use the character on television, as he’s part of the upcoming NEW MUTANTS film. With Jamie Chung being cast as Blink, one has to wonder if a Bishop announcement is imminent, putting focus on the DAYS OF FUTURE PAST mutants?
Written by Matt Nix and directed by X-Men film veteran Bryan Singer, the pilot focuses on two ordinary parents (Stephen Moyer was cast as the father) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.
Producers include Nix, Singer, longtime X-Men film producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, along with Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb ans Jim Chory.
Filming is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
