Alexandra Shipp is “not too sure” (yet) about Storm’s involvement in next X-MEN.

Will X-MEN: APOCALYPSE actress Alexandra Shipp return to her role as Storm in the next X-MEN? “I’m not too sure,” she told Screen Rant while promoting her upcoming film ‘Tragedy Girls’ at SXSW with co-star and Negasonic Teenage Warhead actress, Brianna Hildebrand.

Production on the film reportedly begins this Summer with writer Simon Kinberg in the running to also direct. It’s rumored to focus on Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), an omega mutant with immense cosmic-level power that’s steadily growing out of control. Professor X (James McAvoy) and the X-Men, along with new allies, will have to face their biggest threat…one of their own!

“We haven’t gotten any info on that,” she said. “When you sign on for a franchise, you definitely sign on for that. But it’s all whatever Fox wants, Fox gets!”

If she does return, Shipp wants to further explore Storm’s psyche and her evolution from street thief to becoming a Professor at Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

“I’d really love to see Storm coming into her matriarch form. In the last X-Men, she was very young and she had a different viewpoint. I’d love to see her take on more of a substantial role and really see her come into her own. I want to show how Halle got there. And to do that, I think we just need to show that evolution. And I’m all about a good character arc.”

There’s also the early rumor of Storm appearing in Josh Boone’s NEW MUTANTS spin-off, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens with the character.
