Celebrating X-Men Films And Beyond

DARK PHOENIX: A behind the scenes look at the X-MEN film production.

Things have been under lock and key ever since the cast and crew began filming X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX last week with director Simon Kinberg. While we don’t know much about what’s happening inside the production’s massive studios at Mel’s in Montreal, we do have a peek at what’s going on outside.

Le Journal de Montreal was able to snap some photos (click here to view) of a major set which is being constructed. Decorated with several flags, this impressive structure is easily suspected to be a replica of New York City’s United Nations Headquarters.

Nearby, there’s word of a set being built of a “village, with streets and houses.”

Thanks to JenLawFilms, we see that some extras were recently lined up outside a big white tent, preparing to complete work on the film.

JLF were also able to use their detective skills to find some photos taken from INSIDE the production studios, showing construction work being completed on sets which may or may not be parts of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

“Dark Phoenix” will follow Sophie Turner as omega-level mutant Jean Grey, as she loses herself to her powers and wrecks havoc on not only the world, but the universe itself. It costars James McAvoy as Professor X, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Lamar Johnson and reportedly Jessica Chastain as Lilandra, empress of the Shi’ar.

Filming is expected to run through October for a November 2, 2018 theatrical release.
