20th Century Fox has eight potential directors for THE WOLVERINE. The developing Hugh Jackman-starring film was originally to be directed by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) before he bowed out due to personal issues. Who’s on the short list? Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Brooklyn’s Finest), Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O’Connor (Pride and Glory), James Mangold (Knight & Day) and commercial director Gary Shore, who already directed this awesome unofficial Wolverine trailer.
While Aronofsky was an out-of-box choice, this new crop of directors alludes to the studio looking for a more commercial helmer.
Which director interests you?
Thanks JC!
Hmmm… I was more happy with art house directors… Mainstream could mean… mainstream.
Get Hood back already… he did a wonderful job with the first film!
I heard Gavin Hood may return as an excutive producer. Contrary to rumors, the studio was happy with his work on X-Men Origins Wolverine.
The film was great… period. I liked the transitions and the cinematography. Just watched it yesterday, and although some plot points felt rushed, the character development was plausible and Hugh and Liev did both a terrific job. The film is all about those two brothers. I just hope they will be able to get Liev to play Creed in one of the coming films again. He is perfect for this role.
