Back in July, it was revealed that original Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore seemingly had a role in Simon Kinberg’s X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX film. The actor was in Montreal and had instagrammed a photo of himself with friends who mentioned in the comments that he was “in town shooting the new X-Men movie!”
This led to some confusion, as many wondered if he was playing Colossus again in a 90’s-set film that would require the character to be younger than Cudmore’s current age. On top of that, a new version of the Colossus has already been established in DEADPOOL and the upcoming sequel DEADPOOL 2 with actor Stefan Kapičić providing the vocals and who knows what else.
After some months passed, a fan asked him about his involvement and Cudmore did NOT deny that he will have appear in the next X-Men film, due next year.
“I can’t comment on what character I’m playing, sorry..” he tweeted.
That essentially confirms he did film something.
We really don’t think he’ll be returning as Colossus. Sure, it’s definitely possible, but his comments hint towards something else. There’s speculation that he may actually be portraying an alien in “Dark Phoenix,” perhaps Gladiator, a popular Imperial Guard member that has super-strength and the ability to fly.
Cudmore has done plenty stunt work involving motion-capture and prosthetics, so it wouldn’t be too shocking if he appeared as Gladiator or a totally different character.
We’ll have to wait and see as “Dark Phoenix” flies into theaters on November 2, 2018.

He does have the face structure and Dan is a good actor with size so he could definitely knock that role out of the park.
That would be a great casting!
