XMF has been missing in action since January 1st and in that time lot of things have happened with 20th Century Fox’s X-Men film universe. As we all know, director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS was pushed from its original April 2018 date to February 2019. The film was then pushed even further to August 2nd, 2019 due to release date shuffling a need for extensive reshoots.
Writer/Producer Simon Kinberg also had his directorial-debut film X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX pushed from November 2018 to a potentially more lucrative February 14, 2019 release date. This is due to parts of the film (mainly the third act) needing to be tweaked and new scenes being added with the main cast, who are currently working on other projects; a scheduling nightmare. FIlming on the reshoots are expected to cost under $10 million and will likely occur later this Summer or early Fall. That $10 mil is seemingly not an issue, as the film’s original production reportedly came in under budget.
There were also new developments of film projects like GAMBIT, X-FORCE and much more. Below is a list of what we missed during our downtime:
