It seems the mutant Red Lotus may have a role in director/writer Simon Kinberg’s DARK PHOENIX film. Mia of house Saenz (@THGDistrict3) discovered that the IMDB lists makeup department aritst Stacey Butterworth as wig maker for the characters of “Storm, Mystique, Quicksilver and (revealingly) Red Lotus.”
In the Marvel comics, the character has been affiliated with the X-Men, in particular the X-Treme X-Men team, but not as an official member. Born in Sydney, Australia to an American parent, and the heir apparent to the Sydney Chinese Triad, he assisted the X-Treme X-Men against Sebastian Shaw and Lady Mastermind and later became an ally to Viper, joining her undercover at the Hellfire Club in hopes to shut down their mutant slave ring.
He is a superhuman martial artist who possesses enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, agility, dexterity, coordination, balance, and endurance.
Last year, it was revealed that South Korean singer/actor Rain was forced to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. Though it wasn’t revealed which character he was playing, there were early casting breakdowns for a mutant named Hiroshi, described a “Japanese, brash Tokyo punk kid with an attitude. Although Hiroshi is young, he can command the attention of a room and is always ready for a fight.”
Initial speculation linked this character to Sunfire, but it seems likely this breakdown was actually for Red Lotus.
What role will this character ultimately play in the film? Given our general knowledge of the plot, we’re speculating he either has ties to Magneto’s Genosha island — a mutant safe haven — or Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.
It’s still unknown which actor was cast in the role.
We’ll find out soon enough as Dark Phoenix flies into theaters on February 14, 2019.

Why do they always add lame mutants no one has ever heard of?
