Deadline reports of “buzz” that actor Channing Tatum is vying to direct the long-gestating GAMBIT solo film, which has gone through multiple directors and release date changes.
According to the site, he has long been slotted to play the charming card-throwing mutant, and buzz has been that he might direct the film after several other filmmakers have been in and out.
With no start date scheduled or a finalized script that everyone can agree on, things are looking iffy for Gambit. If they can’t get principal photography greenlit before Disney’s upcoming acquisition of 20th Century Fox, it’ll be up to the Mouse House to decide how to proceed, if at all.
