20th Century Fox’s PG-13 ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL opened in China last week, the first time the film was able to play in the country. According to Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, we have star Ryan Reynolds to thank for this cut of the film, a very genius way of getting past Chinese censorship laws
“Kudos to Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds, for conceiving Of Once Upon A Deadpool as a vehicle to get Deadpool 2 in front of Chinese audiences, tweeted Liefeld. “Worldwide total at $443 million and Domestic at $324 for a $767 total and rising…”
Below are three eye-popping posters for the release, thanks to @stacygao_ustc. They feature familiar imagery from the country, including the merc’s wearing a traditional headpiece, his face on a Tanghulu (a popular street food treat) and a Rattle drum toy.
Once Upon A Deadpool is now available on Blu-ray (with DVD) and Digital.
