20th Century Fox has officially released a new international trailer for writer and director Simon Kinberg’s X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX (that’s the title being used in foreign markets). To many, it’s an even better edit than the trailer just released in February. It features a plethora of new footage which we’ll cover below, but before that, have a look:

So what’s new here? Obviously a lot! Here are 20 new moments we noticed. As with any dissection of footage, potential spoilers may follow:
In the first trailer, it’s implied that young Jean Grey (Summer Fontana) taps her shoes together, causing the car she’s traveling in with her parents to flip. But upon closer inspection, the foot tap is from a different scene altogether. Here, we see that she’s hearing voices in her head and yells “Quiet!” which likely causes a reaction with deadly results. Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) meets a young Jean Grey (Summer Fontana) for the first time at a facility before she decides to join him at his school for gifted youngsters. After a call from the President of the United States of America, the X-Men are summoned to help astronauts who are facing trouble on the outskirts of Earth. The X-Men prepare for takeoff. Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is seen smiling because he’s excited to be going into space. Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) reflects on her past as she and the X-Men blast off into space. Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Beast (Nicholas Hoult) are leading the X-Men in the 90’s. Mystique orders each X-Men to use teamwork in order to help the stranded astronauts. Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) teleports himself and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) out of the X-Jet to help the stranded astronauts. But why does Kurt have a electric-taped helmet, while Jean does not? Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) is seen floating while possibly trying to repair the space shuttle? We’re unsure on this exactly, but how is she able to withstand the situation without a space suit? It’s possible Storm (Alexandra Shipp) is using her powers to control the atmosphere. Or has Jean created a telekinetic air bubble? We’ll have to wait and see on this one. Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) teleports each of the astronaut crew onto the X-Jet. Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) asks Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) about Jean (Sophie Turner) after he notices the Phoenix force beginning to attack the shuttle with Jean inside. Nightcralwer is too late! The space shuttle is attacked by the Phoenix force, with Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) being the prime target. Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) looks in shock as Jean is attacked. After the dangerous mission, the astronauts walk away free from harm with a crowd of X-Men fans awaiting their arrival. In this era the X-Men are celebrated. Look out for one of these fans holding a Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) action figure in the film. So what’s going on here!? Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) is looking totally healthy and free from any harm. This seemingly takes place after she is inhabited by the Phoenix force, so she’s surely freaking out the X-Men to some degree. Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) uses Cerebro to target Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) with Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) by his side. Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) has a conversation with Magneto (Michael Fassbender) on his island community for mutants called Genosha after having a deadly encounter. She’s scared of her powers and what happens when they get out of control. Whle Smith (Jessica Chastain) explains the history of the Phoenix force to Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) we see a glimpse of something being eradicated. Is it a planet, a star or something else entirely? We’ll have to wait and see. We’ve seen this scene before, but this time we get a look at Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) mourning an X-Man’s death. Dark Phoenix will be the first X-Men film to give the character a more-involved role and fans hope that over the course of the film he will become a true leader. We’ve been told Sheridan’s performance is one of the best in the film.. Erik (Michael Fassbender) enters a building in true Magneto fashion, using a train to crash through it. Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) gets into a tussle with Magneto (Michael Fassbender). Smith (Jessica Chastain) watches as Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) attempts to kill Magneto. While this scene makes it look like she succeeds, we know Erik will not die in this scene as he appears in the film’s final act.
