THE NEW MUTANTS is finally back on track! Director Josh Boone confirmed to fan account @NewMutantsUp via IG that a new trailer for the film will premiere in January. We’re assuming this means it’ll play theatrically in front of 20th Century Fox’s horror film Underwater, which releases on January 10.
In related news, famed New Mutants comic book artist Bill Sienkiewicz told Kevin Smith that he’s seen the trailer and it looks “phenomenal.”
“Two days ago, I heard from Josh Boone, the director, and he sent me a new trailer,” said Sienkiewicz. “They’ve been working on it, he’s been working on [it] and everything, and it’s phenomenal. I got chills. It looks like, because of the whole Disney/Fox, I don’t even want to call it a merger, takeover, whatever. But it’s got the blessings of Marvel and it feels more Marvel in terms of what they’re doing, but also the horror elements of the film are in place. It’s really, absolutely stellar, just what I’ve seen.”

The New Mutants is currently slated for release on April 3, 2020.
