Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld spoke briefly to Vanity about the progress of Ryan Reynolds’ future potential X-FORCE and DEADPOOL 3 films. Now that Disney has fully acquired 20th Century Fox’s assets, which include the merc with a mouth and Marvel’s entire X-Men universe, the next question is what does the studio plan to do with the popular properties?
“You know what, I just hope that they get it together,” said Liefeld. “The fans want to see it. The whole thing about Deadpool is, the culture has moved so fast now that two years ago feels like 20 years, but they were R-rated movies that together made $1.2 billion; yes I looked at those [numbers] and I counted them up. After the first weekend, I called Ryan and said: It’s a billion dollar franchise! We were really excited, so I think Deadpool 3 and X-Force [are] inevitable. I mean, come on! Josh Brolin, Ryan Reynolds and now with Disney; how is that not like the biggest thing, right?”
Reynolds was seen a couple months ago visiting Marvel Studios, so it seems discussions are at least in place to figure out how Deadpool and mutants find their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
