Actress Anya Taylor-Joy filmed director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS as the popular mutant character Magik years ago in 2017 when she was just 20. Now at the age of 23, she speaks with People about looking back at her younger self in the long-delayed X-Men horror thriller spin-off.
“It’s super trippy, but mostly because I think everybody coming into their 20’s; you think you’re so grown up when you hit 20 and then you’re like 21 and now I’m like, you’re a baby! Like, oh my God, I just feel like I’ve grown up a lot since then, but it’s also fun because that character was a lot of fun to play. She’s just sassy, like, she really doesn’t care about very much,” she says laughing. “It’s fun to go into any set environment with that sort of bad-ass attitude.”
The New Mutants arrives in theaters on April 3rd.
