While doing press for her latest film Emma, actress Anya Taylor-Joy (Magik) spoke with MovieWeb about director Josh Boone’s THE NEW MUTANTS finally getting a theatrical release after multiple delays.
“It’s exciting! It’s been three years. That’s a long time,” she said. “But Josh, our director, is really happy with the cut of the movie that he’s showing. It’s very much his film, and I mean, we can only be proud of that. I just love that character. She’s bonkers in the best possible way, and I had so much fun playing her every single day. I hope people love her as much as I do. She’s a character. She’s feisty, but she’s really good fun.”
In the comics, Illyana Rasputin aka Magik is the younger sister of Russian X-Man Colossus. She has the ability to teleport through the Limbo dimension to go anywhere she sees fit and wields a powerful Soulsword which she uses to battle her enemies. In the film, she’ll also be joined by her dragon, Lockheed.
The New Mutants frighten theatergoers on April 3rd.
