Rob Liefeld thinks Marvel should stop procrastinating and give Ryan Reynolds the reigns to DEADPOOL 3.

DEADPOOL co-creator Rob Liefeld has been vocal about Disney/Marvel Studios’ holding up DEADPOOL 3 from ramping up after acquiring 20th Century Fox/Studios. The merc with a mouth now seemingly has a bevvy of already in-development projects at Marvel ahead of him, which means he might have to wait in line. That’s something Liefeld isn’t happy with.

“I blame Marvel…blame Marvel that that hasn’t happened yet,” he said to ComicBook.com during an interview. “They are the reason it isn’t happening. Whatever conundrum or it didn’t fit into your master plan, just commission it. Okay, commission it. You know if [artist] Frank Frazetta was still around, you would say, ‘Frank paint for me.'”

A small group of fans think Deadpool would be best staying at Fox/Studios so star Ryan Reynolds can do what he does best. The actor has been instrumental in both films’ development and award-winning marketing. That doesn’t seem like it’ll be the case though, as Reynolds has had discussion with Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige.

Speaking with io9, Liefeld clarified his previous comments, saying “Do I know that there is no movement on a Deadpool 3 right now? I know that. Yes. And does that worry me? No. Not at all. What I did was I answered a question honestly. And what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you’ll be better off in your life because people want to be lied to.” “Just because some guy goes, ‘Yeah, We’re still moving along’ that’s code for ‘There’s nothing to see here.’”

“My opinion is Ryan should be steering the ship and just completely handed the reins,” he continues, “even to the point of plugging characters in…Give him three characters he can integrate and let him integrate them. If people ask what I want to see, that’s where it begins. Just please don’t micromanage the guy. Just give him free rein.”
