Are X-Men References In LOKI S2 Intentional? Director Dan DeLeeuw Weighs In.

LOKI season two had some X-Men fans wondering if there’s a direct connection between the Disney+ series and the future of mutants in the MCU. The show, starring Tom Hiddleston, featured two nods: A sliding mechanical door with a large “X” on it, which looks incredibly similar to the doors of CEREBRO, and graffiti on a wall which reads “All M are Brothers,” a Brotherhood of Mutants reference.

Speaking with Screen Rant, director Dan DeLeeuw said “it wasn’t really planned,” basically coming down to the art team having some fun behind the scenes. “That’s the art department, Kasra [Farahani], our production designer, is a genius with all the sets, and then in the overall design of the filming, and you can see with the posters in the TVA, if you let the art department run with something, they will just come up with amazing ideas that have a story behind them,” he said. “But it’s something you never would have anticipated showing up on set. It wasn’t really planned. It was funny, I had my humanities teacher in university was talking about a book, and she had an idea that the author didn’t really agree with, so she told her class, “Well, if it’s there, it’s there. “And it’s like, “Okay, I don’t think that was the intention, but, if they wanted it to be there, sure.”

The Time Variance Authority will play a role in DEADPOOL 3, however. Tasked with keeping the MCU Sacred Timeline in check, the organization will factor into a plot involving the FoXverse X-Men and their friends.
