the SUPER🦸 — Marvel Studios has hired writer Michael Waldron to pen the screenplay for AVENGERS: THE KANG DYNASTY, Deadline exclusively reports. Waldron, who previously worked on LOKI S1 and DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS, was already tapped to write AVENGERS: SECRET WARS; he will now handle writing duties on both.
Marvel is rumored to be looking for one director (or a directing team) to tackle both films. Destin Daniel Cretton was originally tapped to helm Kang, but has since left to focus on his WONDER MAN series for Disney+, including a potential sequel to his hit MCU film SHANG CHI. Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) has been rumored for the gig, along with duo Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Loki S2, Daredevil: Born Again).
Given the MCU’s current trajectory, X-Men and other characters from the FoXverse are likely to make appearances in both films after the fallout from DEADPOOL 3. Secret Wars, in particular, is said to be where a chunk of them take center-stage, including characters from Sony’s Spider-Verse, for a legendary mashup.
