Superman: Legacy writer/director James Gunn has taken to social media on Superman’s birthday to reveal the film’s new title, and debut a first tease of the costume to be worn by David Corenswet.
“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.”
The film stars Corenswet as Clark Kent aka Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion As Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt aka Mr. Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason aka Metamorpho, Maria Gabriela de Faria as Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Terence Rosemore as Otis, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
SUPERMAN arrives in theaters July 11, 2025.
