Fan FiX: I’LL ALWAYS COME BACK TO YOU – Jean Has Returned

1996. The team finds themselves in a world still growing in acceptance of their kind and their cause. The school for the gifted, now under the guidance of Professor McCoy, stands as a beacon of hope for those born with special gifts everywhere. Charles continues to live on the island with his newly adopted daughter, Marie, and Erik.

The tranquility of the NY mansion becomes shattered when Jean returns, not as the all-powerful cosmic entity she last appeared as, but in human form. Fire red hair, wearing a green and gold bodysuit that shifts colors and appears alien in nature. Her reappearance stirs a whirlwind of emotions within the team, especially for Scott, her former love.

“Jean? You’re back!?” Scott said with a smile.

Jean’s eyes shift, as if digging into a folder of secrets. She discovers that Scott has moved on and is now in a relationship with Alison, a mutant who control create light energy from sound. “Really, Scott?” Feelings of hurt and betrayal wash over Jean as she struggles to come to terms with the passage of time and Scott’s newfound love.

Alison, sensing the tension, decides to take a brief leave from the team to focus on her music career, hoping to give Scott and Jean space to resolve their complicated feelings.

Storm, always the voice of reason, welcomes Jean back with open arms, but doesn’t shy away from confronting her about the years she had been absent. She urges Jean to respect Scott and Alison’s relationship, and to come to terms with the changes that had occurred in her absence.

As Jean prepares to leave, Scott stops her. “Jean, I still love you and have never stopped hoping for your return. But time has passed…” His words reignite something within Jean, something dangerous and uncontrollable.

Driven by jealousy and fueled by her lingering love for Scott, Jean unconsciously taps into her immense power. Using her telepathy, she places Alison, who’s driving, into a coma, resulting in a devastating car accident that leaves her fighting for her life in the hospital.

When Scott learns of Alison’s condition, he rushes to her side, only to be confronted by Jean, whose demeanor has shifted ominously. “Why are you coming to see her, Scott? What are we doing here?” Something about her seems off, and Scott can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t the Jean he once knew.

Before he can react, Jean erupts into flames, her bodysuit turning golden red, and eyes blazing with cosmic fury. She launches a vicious attack on the hospital, injuring innocent bystanders in her path.

Ororo, Kurt, Peter, and Jubilation, arrive just in time to intervene, engaging Jean in a fierce battle to subdue her. But Jean, now fully consumed by the dark force within her, proves to be a formidable adversary. “I don’t want to fight you, but my patience has been tried!”

As the battle rages on, Jean’s powers grows increasingly unstable, threatening to engulf everything in their path. In a desperate attempt to contain her, the team fight with all their might, but it’s clear that Jean’s power surpasses anything they had ever faced before.

Ororo takes to the air to confront Jean head-on, her powers of weather manipulation crackling around her like a tempest unleashed. “Jean, stop this!” she says sternly. With a mighty roar, she summons bolts of lightning, sending them hurtling towards Jean with all the force of nature’s fury. But to her astonishment, Jean meets her attack head-on, her eyes ablaze with power.

With a wave of her hand, Jean deflects the lightning with ease, her telepathic abilities bending the very fabric of reality to her will. The energy crackles and dances around her, twisting and contorting in ways that defy explanation.

“Jean!” Scott locks eyes with her, and they make a connection. That was the last thing he yelled to her 1992, before she went on a fantastic journey of evolution and corruption.

In a final, devastating act, Jean declares a simple “I’m sorry,” before soaring into the sky and leaving Earth. With a look of determination bordering on madness, she knows she is no longer human, and flies until she reaches a star in a nearby planetary system. Plunging into it with great force, she obliterates an alien planet in its path.

As the dust settles and the chaos subsides back on Earth, the team are left to ponder the events that had unfolded. Jean, once their friend and ally, is a force of nature, and a potential threat to all life in the universe.

Despite the devastation caused by Jean’s rampage, Scott’s thoughts were focused on Alison, who’s fighting for her life. As he looks outside the hospital window, up into the night’s sky, a sense of anguish washes over him. The stars twinkle overhead, a silent witness to the turmoil below.

“Scott…” 🔥
