X-Men: The Last Stand actor Vinnie Jones recently revealed to Yahoo! UK that he was approached to return as the Juggernaut in director Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine for Marvel Studios. Surprisingly, Jones turned the offer down and explains why.
“Funnily enough I just got asked to do Deadpool, the new one now, and I spoke to the director and I just said it’s such a drama putting that suit on mentally and physically,” he said. “I mean it had its mental toll as well because you’re in it and you can’t do anything all day, you can only drink through a straw. So we couldn’t strike the deal for Deadpool [& Wolverine].”
It took makeup artists about four hours each day to turn Jones into Juggernaut, with full body prosthetics, padding, costumes and accessories. It also sounds like the money being offered just wasn’t worth it for him.
“But Deadpool’s my favourite movie of all f***ing time more or less,” he continued. “I really wanted to do it, but they didn’t have the budget to put me in the suit.”
It’s clear a bevy of cameos are set up for the Marvel Studios film, as even Dopinder actor Karan Soni revealed that there’s “a lot of surprises. Let’s just say a lot of people traveled to London.”
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in theaters on July 26, 2024.
