the SUPER: Julia Garner Joins Marvel Studios’ THE FANTASTIC FOUR

According to Deadline, Emmy-winning actor Julia Garner (Ozark) is set to portray the Silver Surfer in Marvel Studios’ upcoming The Fantastic Four. Instead of appearing as an alternate version of Norrin Radd (the original Silver Surfer), Garner will reportedly play Shalla-Bal.

In the comics, the character is the lover of Radd, and becomes a 2nd Silver Surfer in an alternate Earth X universe. With rumors swirling that FF will take place (at least partially) in an alternate timeline within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the pieces are slowly coming together.

Garner joins a cast that includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richard aka Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm aka the Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm aka the Thing.

Matt Shakman (WandaVision) is directing, with Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan, Eric Pearson and Ian Springer serving as writers.

The film is due in theaters on July 25, 2025.
