Entertainment Weekly has the first official look at images from Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, which stars Anthony Mackie as the title character, Sam Wilson, and Harrison Ford as newly-elected President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.
“It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s—,” said Mackie. “Even though I’ve been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie.”
During a sneak peak at CinemaCon, Mackie and Kevin Feige presented footage where Ross welcome Sam to the White House and thanks him for his past heroic actions. Admitting that he isn’t too fond of superheroes, Ross says he recognizes Sam’s goodwill and wants him to reform Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers. They soon realize there’s a leak within Ross’ team.
Then follows a sequence where “an old timey song” interrupts a presentation Ross is giving at the White House. Sleeper super-soldiers enter the room and attack the President, including Isaiah Bradley, portrayed by Carl Lumbly – returning from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier series.
Directed by Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox), the film arrives in theaters on February 14, 2025.
