Exciting news today as The Hollywood Reporter reveals the Russo Bros. are in early talks to direct Avengers 5 and Secret Wars for Marvel Studios. According to the trade, their hiring would end a months-long, high-stakes search by the studio for directors, which included Deadpool & Wolverine helmer Shawn Levy, who was initially offered the job.
The Russos directed four successful films for the MCU, which include Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Avengers 5 is currently scheduled for May 1, 2026, with Secret Wars slated for May 7, 2027. It’s likely the production will take a note from Infinity War and Endgame and film back-to-back.
