After its 4th weekend in theaters, Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine was dethroned from the no. 1 spot on the box office charts by 20th Century’s Alien: Romulus (both under Disney). Playing in 3,960 theaters (a -370 drop), director Shawn Levy’s film earned an estimated $29 million over the 3-day period (a -46% drop), bringing its total to $545.8 million in the USA. When all is said and done, it’s eXpected to end its run between $625-$650 million in the states.
Internationally, the Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman picture amassed $596.8 million, totaling to $1.142 billion worldwide.
Deadpool & Wolverine is the highest-grossing R-rated film in the USA, including the largest R-rated film of all time, globally. It surpassed Joker ($1.079 billion) with $1.086 billion on August 15.
